TRUMP AND THE WORLD TRUMPS WITH YOU - cough and you dine alone
We will shortly find out whether a barking mad would-be dictator with a messiah complex bigger than Jesus, the empathy of a hyena and the hair and tie of a TV evangelist is about to embark on another four years of trashing his room and stamping his foot until he gets his way, or go to jail, where he rightfully belongs. He has long since abandoned any pretence of caring about his country or his electorate, preferring instead to barnstorm his natural constituency, the gun-toting terminally thick, by validating their ignorant racist prejudices. It is an unfathomable mystery to most non-Americans that even dirt-poor caravan dwellers would prefer to die untreated, simply because they cannot afford private medicine, rather than commit the unforgivable sin of endorsing a system which would provide for their health concerns through a national insurance scheme affordable by all. That such a system could be regarded as so un-American that it provokes a Pavlovian, McCarthyite reflex is an enigmatic conundrum worthy of MC Escher.
We can only cross our fingers, toes and hearts that this human disaster zone is sent packing on November 3rd, or at least as soon as he is finished contesting the results.
DESPERATE DON
Perhaps it's heartening in a way that Trump feels desperate enough to employ the unemployable, Nigel Farage, the man known to the French as la grenouille fumante for a walk-on part in his Make America Great Event in Phoenix, where he introduced him, improbably, as " as one of Europe’s "most powerful men."
Trump glowed with incandescent orange pride as the brown-tongued used car salesman returned the insincere compliment, addressing the hooting masses thus: "Four years of the Russia hoax, four years of false impeachment, most human beings under that barrage would have given up. “This is the single most resilient and bravest person I have ever met in my life. And when you vote next week you are not just voting for who the president of the United Sates of America is, as vital as that question may be - you are voting for the leader of the free world... the only current leader in the free world who has got the guts to stand up and fight for the nation state, to fight for patriotism and to fight against globalism.... the only leader in the western world with the real courage to stand up to the Chinese communist party."
“Wow!...Thank you Nigel, that is something.” effused the beaming beacon of freedom, turning to the crowd, “He is responsible for a lot of things that happened over in Europe, very positive things too.” A hushed murmur went around the stadium as the puzzled mob wondered what had happened in Europe.
Curiously, US officials have granted Farage an exemption from the current US travel ban by deeming his visit in "the national interest"
